From the Earth, with the Earth, for the Earth

I have a deep primal connection to Mother Earth, Devic energies and the Goddess as a being and archetype, which greatly influences my Ceramics.

I love the tactility of clay, its malleable nature and of course coming from the Great Mother herself epitomises that connection even more.

Hand-building is my preference, the universe speaks through my fingers and working the clay is like a meditative dance, an exchange of energies and information and allows me to imbue the piece with healing energies. When the dance ceases I know my piece is finished.

I am particularly drawn to BRT (buff raku trachyte), it is soft and malleable but has the strength to endure the contortions of change metaphorically and materially.

Not only versatile in its use for the creation of form but also its finishes which are obtained by varying the temperature and type of firing without the use of glazes.

To me it most represents and resembles the rocks, stones and megalithic structures of Gaia that hold so much energy and information.

Having said that, I do like to experiment with different textures and styles.
